giantrobot9000
I changed my plugs today with Champions from NAPA,and then went out for a drive to see if there was a difference. It seems a little smoother, but the thing that I noticed the most was some white exhaust smoke while I was sitting at the drive-thru.I had just taken a hard run at full throttle on the highway, though,so I'm thinking this is really the reason. My car has never smoked before, though.Carbon deposits clearing out maybe? I had also just added a quart of oil,as I was low.I bought some Seafoam, but I'm kinda scared to use it because the car actually runs pretty well for such high mileage (297k).I've been putting off doing the PCV system, too, which it probably needs. If I Seafoam into the intake,do you think it would help me or harm me? giantrobot9000
Shitty plugs You think the plugs alone caused it? I wanted to give them a try before I paid $32 for the OEM plugs because some folks said they were fine for them.
James100
My original 1994 "Volvo manual" that comes with the car when you buy it says for a turbo Champion RC7GYC(or equivalent). Where the 7 is They changed it to 9 I believe. Spark plug gap .028I put these Champions in and my car runs better with them than the Bosch copper. Make sure the gap is correct. MrWinkey
I had also just added a quart of oil,as I was low.Are you sure it was low? Perhaps now it may be a bit over full resulting in your smoke
giantrobot9000
There's more......on the way home last night,my car lost power and I saw a big plume of black smoke out the exhaust.Turned out an intercooler hose popped off again (the t shaped one I replaced).I tighten it back up and keep driving, but when I got into the throttle just a little bit,it immediately started making boost and the needle went WAY over to the right....much further than normal. This wasn't even more than 3/4 throttle! It did this two times and then went back to normal. Was that the computer resetting itself or something? I kinda miss it! :D
