I've Always Believed In Volvo Safety

Ouch, broken jaw is really tough. Hope her recovery is quick! Its a bitch not being able to talk. My friend who was in the bed of a pickup that rolled... (all four of my friends involved, eh. Not so smart) broke his jaw and had it wired shut for a solid month.

Man, that is a great design to take that much damage. Thats alot of Rock and Steel in a fully loaded F550.

I'm still not entirely sure exactly what happened, but my wife is the one that came over the center line. And the dog is fine, took her to the vet for a night stay and she's back and running now. And my wife came home today and is doin fine. Now we just gotta find another car. We loved the SRX but will prolly get a car next time for fuel and ease of in and out. Looking at a midsize sedan, so, 02+ Camry, 02+ ES300, S60, or C/E class mercedes. So I will have to do some test driving again.

Please don't get a camry!

The car served its purpose well! Working in the EMS field it truly is amazing to see some of the stuff people walk away from. She is extremely lucky and I hope her recovery goes well.

Wow Anthony, glad to see she is alright after that.

It is a testament to how far safety has come in the last 20 or so years. Everyone thinking their old tank Volvos are safer than modern state of the art cars just because of the brand names need to take a look at things of this nature. Kudos to Cadillac, and best wishes to you and your wife :)

Happy she survived and hope she heals quickly, but just make sure you get a nice safe car to replace it:)

Actually, a lot of GM cars did poorly on crash test ratings, and even worse on side impact ratings. I saw the results and was terrified.

My wife was driving our new Cadillac srx (what I replaced my 850 with) yesterday and hit a Ford F550 with a full load/trailer. She hit head on, she was going 60mph, and he was going 35mph. Besides the obviously bruises etc, she broke her jaw on the airbag, and her leg has some pains, but all in all, pretty good considering.

its a good thing the pano-sunroof didn't break all over her.

Glad she is ok.

My Dad was once rear ended by a Chevy suburban going 45 MPH, while he was sitting at a stoplight.

Thank the Lord he was in 86 Volvo 760, That car saved his life for sure. He walked away with whiplash.

The Volvo's trunk was smashed FLAT up to the rear window. But the Rear window was not even cracked!!!

That's why i'm VL4L ( or somthing like that)

Yeah, that´s why I stay away from American Cars in general, but the SRX was actually designed for Europe, and has pretty good ratings etc, that said, the only gm car I would actually buy would be a vette. she doesn´t want another SUV right now cause of the gas milage, but when we start lookin again, we will definately prolly get another SRX.

holy crude what an accident.

so glad your wife is OK. the driver of the truck i'm assuming was OK? You need to make sure your wife will be comfortable with the next cars safety and you have a pretty good example sitting in front of you. i'd think about it again also.

if your after a used vehicle and there's any in the pittsburgh area be sure to let me know and i'll check it out for you..
