Need A New Car

Per this thread I am looking for a new car for my wife. We loved the SRX, fast, comfortable, and just really nice. But for our next car we are leaning more towards a midsize sedan vs an suv, due to fuel milage, and we are looking to spend a little less than we did for the SRX (which aint cheap). Looking around 10k-ish and we will probably get it at auto auction for price sake. Also looking for a very safe car (obviously). And eventually we will definately get another SRX.

So far we are looking at pretty much all 2002+

Toyota Camry

Lexus ES300

Volvo S60 T5

Saab 9-5 Aero

Mercedes C-class (although a bit small)

Performance isn´t paramount, although any car I get will be the top available model with the most powerful model available (I don´t buy cars without having every option), I am also a huge fan of very quiet/comfortable cars, and it´s for my wife not me. Good fuel economy is also important, as obviously is safety.

Also open to suggestions of other cars, but no american, it has to be a midsize sedan (no small cars), safe, and have leather etc (luxury)

Personally I would go with the ES or the Volvo. Depends on which car you can find. At least with the Volvo you know the engine and the car well enough to do some work yourself if need be, or at least not be surprised when bringing it in to get fixed. I would think the ES would be the quietest out of your list though and possibly the most fuel efficient behind the Camry.

The ES will probably the most reliable and quietest car out of all your options. The Camry is a cheaper ES with less leather. The Volvo will be sweet and have the most comfy seats. The C-class is a good car, but for my money I'd get a 3-series because.

As others have suggested the E39 is a good car. Not much to break on those cars other than the plastic water pumps and misc electrical comfort things.
