ant
I have a 1999 Volvo V70 AWD Cross Country, 2.4 turbo, automatic. I have been experiencing a rubbing, dragging sensation coming from the rear tires only at sharp turns, such as parking or pulling into driveway. I was told it may be the viscous coupling. So I replaced it with a used good one. I still have the same problem. I now have just learned that I may need a replacement rear driveshaft. The velocity joints go bad on them and they are not repairable. Can anyone shine some light on what my problem may be with this vehicle and or correct me where I may be wrong. Also and More Importantly, Would anyone out there be interested in buying my good viscous coupling? Also does anyone have a drivesahft available for this car? Would someone be interested in trading? Please help if you can. My Vin# is YV1LZ56D0X2595323. My email address is awbmaintenance@yahoo.com. ThanksAnthony

Big Will
To the original poster: I think you are in need of a propeller shaft. But instead of doing all this guessing and testing, this is probably the time to take the car into a good Volvo indy mechanic or dealership and have it properly diagnosed. It is going to be expensive most likely if it involves the prop shaft, or viscous coupling, or angle gear etc so why not skip the guessing? Guest Bill McLaughlin
I have a 1998 V70 AWD, I BELEIVE the viscous coupling is bad, I'm hearing a kind of "ker plunk" as I back up.I'm told this thing is engaging improperly. What do you want for your new viscous coupling?I'm assuming its a NEW part i.e not bought as used.
