86boostedvolvo
It seems that my 1986 740 Turbo transmission has finally given up. I was having trouble getting it into first gear, and then when I was able to get it into first, I couldnt get it out. Realizing that I had just installed a new clutch and clutch slave cylinder, i knew that it was not the clutch. The only thing I did not replace at the time, was the master cylinder. I was hoping that this was the problem. So 6 hours and 400 dollars later I had it installed. It seemed to go into first alright, but then started grinding in 3rd and 4th....then unable to get it back into 1st, had to drive in 2nd back to the shop where I came to the unfortunate realization that after 21 years of pure performance wear and tear, my transmission has retired. So now I am faced with big problems. It is not as easy as it sounds to find another 1986 740 turbo, manual transmission.... So suggestions would be appreciated... let me know what you think and if there are any ideas :(
