Radiator Install

Just got finished with replacement. 4 hours total and I changed oil also. Don't forget to get new seals, o-rings and maybe retaining clips too. I am by no means a mechanic, but I had proper parts and tools. Watch out for small soft metal clips on I.C. that holds the mounting plates. they broke on one side and I had to do a little hole making to make it work but it 's all good. Car seems to run better. I washed I.C. when I had it out. What is up with Tstat housing screws ! I wrecked screw and 2 good T40 bits!! I am lost as to how to get them off now, could be big trouble. Friggin gorillas in Sweden or Belgium or whatever, they felt Loctited...Any input would be very helpful.

Did you have generic t40 bits? Because I have no clue how you destroy the bit...If anything, you round the housing screws...

And you should pick up some steel (new version) screws to replace the aluminum ones.

Edit: You did wreck the housing screw...Read it wrong and thought you broke a tool and two bits.

Generic? I used the correct size, and tried to keep tool level in socket. What bit manufacturer should I have used? I do have new bolts, no good if I can't get old ones out. I I did wreck 2 bits and 2 screw heads. The first bit was a cheap p.o.s. and did not damage the screw. The second bit was made by Lisle, got it at Sears. The one near the fuel rail is a real pain in the jerk. If I use a wobble extension I can keep the tool level in the screw head. Otherwise the rail has to come off. But BFD, the screw heads are wrecked and and no freakin T40 is gonna work now.

Search for methods to fix a stripped screw.

This method might work..

I don't know what is a good brand, all I know is that when I was reading/changing my t-stat, that's the biggest piece of advice I was getting..Make sure you get a high quality bit.

Edit: The bit from Sears shouldn't be bad, but if it wrecked, it obviously is.
