Ghost Shadow Posted August 12, 2007 Report Share Posted August 12, 2007 got my 01 c70 last week and last saturday went to pull my hood cable and the head of the b@tch a@@ cable snapped off. emailed nick NGB for a cable for a C70, he told me no, don't have it.was about to call the stealership for it when i had a brain fart.i have a 93 parts car. sheet the hood cable is still in that car, lets pull it out and try it just for kicks. what can happen it can be the wrong size, oh well.well what i found was that the cable was not only the same length, it also had the same fittings, the same everything!I did a search for hood cable, broken cable, ect. seems like this doesn't happen to too many people except me!The replacement was easy as pie. unhook the hood cable from the front latch and pull it back into the car. on the parts car, the cable was held in place with two black clips along the front driver's frame rail. on my c70 there was nothing.installation was a little trickier. use some lube, like wd40, white lithium grease so the cable cam slide into the grommet easier thru the firewall. you will hate the fact that it tooks 3 seconds to pull out and 30 minutes to fish it back in.I will assume that all 850, c70, v70 volvo's will have the same hood cable since my doner cable came from a 93 850 glt into my 01 c70 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
