1994 Turbo Wagon

Okay, this is a continuation of my post earlier about this car up for sale.

EDIT:

What I'm hearing far is that the MBC would have not stressed the engine/turbo because system would cut-off the fuel if ECU sees more than 1 bar to protect the engine if given too much boost without proper tune/flash/chip (this is the best I understand it and I feel good about it). Also, the upgrade of the turbo is not much bigger than stock, only from 15G to 16T - a good thing about the concern of over-stressing or otherwise damaging the engine.

From my search here, the engine code "boost regulation too high" can be fixed by replacing Boost Control Solenoid (BCS) if need be, or it could be a simple case of leaking hose in one of the three hoses connected to the BCS. It's wishful thinking but maybe, just clearing the code would fix it, since seller already tone down the boost via MBC (apparently had it too high, bogged down, and code was just never cleared-up).

END EDIT:

The seller responded, it's green w/ tan leather interior, described as good/good condition

WHAT DO YOU THINK GUYS, for less than $2k, I think I can make a case with my wife. Sell my Expedition perhaps (nah!)

The only concern I have is the code thrown: boost regulation too high, he thinks it's because of the MBC, is this a concern, Turbo folks? Can MBC be removed to get rid of this code? Or can it be fixed?

The AC and the dent, I can live with that for a while. I know a good body guy who repainted our bumpers for very reasonable price.

And yeah, I'm sure the photos are old. Need to see it personally for a test-drive of course.

Thanks in advance for all your inputs.

doesnt look too bad for 2,000. Its your call if you want to buy it for 2,000.

but it looks niiice to me for 2,000....i'd grab that ASAP if there no no other issues other than u stated above.

if you think about it , I already see the it has a bunch of rare options like the spoiler and the roof racks.

Bump!

This is getting real by the moment, convinced my wife a similar car for swapping of parts for diagnostic purposes is a good idea!

I'm getting feedback from the seller too!

Turbo folks, please give your expert opinion on the engine code this car throws:

they state as: boost regulation too high due to the manual boost controller

I think it probably is: Socket A2 - 414 Boost pressure regulation too high

Is this a big deal? Can MBC be fixed to avoid throwing the code? Can it be fixed by removing the MBC. Or do I simply replace the MBC?

Yeah, I'm reading about BCS and I'm learning a lot already.

That it's called many names, boost/pressure regulator, Boost Solenoid, Boost Control Solenoid (BCS), & Turbo Control Valve.

Also, part number I found is 1271630 - anybody knows if this is unique to 850 HPT, or any turbo (like 97 850 LPT, x70 HPT & LPT) uses the same part number. Also, are the hoses that comes out of this Volvo Only parts, or any suitable rubber hose will work. Reason is, I will be test-driving the car and wondering if I could bring some hoses with me, I read here that sometimes, issue is as simple as leaking hose, or disconnected hose altogether!

Also, being a x70 guy with OBDII, don't know how too pull codes from 94 850, could somebody please direct me to any link on how to do it?

EDIT: Know now how to pull codes from socket A2: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/a2.html

Also, although 94, car possibly OBDII compliant.

Thanks

Are you still considering this wagon? Apparently he has scammed a bunch of people on VS and then he disappeared. I dont know what was resolved but all I can say is that you should watch out, because you might be getting scammed too.

hi,

i am heather, corey's girlfriend. corey is at uscg boot camp right now and will be till this weekend or next. im not sure which. as we speak i am at his apartment gettin the title for this car. i dont think he meant to rip anyone off but he was sent to boot camp with minimal notice. Under a week i believe. he thought that there was plenty of money in his paypal to cover everyone. but shipping labels were revoked etc etc. it was just i nightmare that i couldnt really help with and he couldn't deal with while at cape may. im sure once his car is sold and he has a jet ski im selling too that he will make good with everyone.

regarding the person inquireing there is an obd 2 socket to read codes from

also i have the radio code and everything. corey gave me his radio and subs for my bithday and i gave him my stock headunit from my s70.

also after looking around my estimates seem to be quite off. the car is going to around 14psi with a 16t and the dual stuff that corey put on and cone filter. so i would think that it might be around 270 but less to the wheels if that is how it works??

corey tried t eplain the diff. between "to the wheels" and at the brakes or engine or something. im sorry if im confusing ppl. corey always yells at me at not knowing what a phillips is!

She's straight about the whole thing in our e-mail exchanges, just to let you know folks. I hope Corey could straighten things out with some of you members as soon as he gets back.
