motorcity_rob
Hi all, Wondering if someone knows this. I keep reading e-bay Volvos described with a 2.4 Liter turbo (Specifically a V70 2000 model) I thought they we're all 2.3 Liter turbos? My deeper question is... Can an older cylinder head off of a 2.3 Liter turbo (A '94) fit and work on a newer 2.3 liter (or whatever it is) 2000 turbo engine. I think the firing order is all the same. Anyone with a clue?.... Thanks.
Mogatu'r
Yes there are 2.4 ltr turbo engines. Now, I've swapped heads on VW's before to raise the compression, but idk 'bout doing it on a Turbo engine, the 2.4T flows more and I believe its more beneficial that way. Why would you want to do this?
magicaljake
i belive he is asking if he can put the head off a 94 2.3 engine.....onto a 2000 2.3 enginei thought they changed the engines slightly in 1999....but im not the person to tell you the yes or no answer
motorcity_rob
Yeah, thats exactly what I'm asking. I've got a '94 turbo engine sittin' and a guy with a 2000 v70 with a bad head. I thought a quick head swap would put the car back on the road. But the whole 2.4 liter turbo had me scratchin' my head...... So I guess a 2.3 turbo head won't fit on a 2.4t? ACES70
The 2.4L has a higher compression ratio for starters, but im not sure about the actuality of it lining up and working.
