Wife's 99 T5 Stutters Occasionaly At Startup

Auburn T5

It's been going on for over a year now. Wondering what the deal is. Every now and then when cranking the car when it's cold (not cold outside just when the car hasn't been driven in a while like after it's sat overnight then starting to go to work the next morning).

But every now and then it'll sputter upon cranking it and you have to give it a little gas to get it to snap out of it.

Fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, etc were all changed a little over a year ago.

Is the fuel pump crapping out or is it something else?

Has it had the ETM recall?

My line of thought as well. My car used to do the same thing until I had the ETM cleaned.

Funny tho...but for the past couple weeks my car has been cranking longer before it starts. No sputtering as before with the dirty ETM, just cranks longer before it fires up. So busy I haven't had a chance to even think about diagnosing.

no it was the $900 TB replacement job that we just recently got the refund for.

hmmmm

change spark plugs ? maybe ?

they might be dirty , or gapped of just alittle so after the first spark they clean off or heat up enought to go to the setting .

kind of guessing now <_<

oh oh fuel pump , might be going bad and not getting correct pressure to the nozzels,

I'll change the plugs first and see if it fixes it.

And DAMN if it's the fuel pump, FCP groton has 2 different things. One is a $300 assembly and another is a $195 fuel pump insert. Is the insert what you would use to sort of rebuild or replace just the failing pump part of the assembly?

How would I tell if it's a fuel pump crapping out?
