Ghost Shadow
"That's your name, McLovin? Cool"Well actually what i did was pulled the axle out of the socket that goes into the trans. The ball bearings and the cage they sit in are f*d up. i pulled the boot off and saw several pieces in the grease.i can find everywhere, drivers side automatic axles but no manual axles. hence why i was wondering about a interchange for auto's in manuals. Ghost Shadow
Sounds like yo may need a new axle.for all you hpt 99+ manuals out there, you better hope the driver's axle never has a problem. no parts for a rebuild. no usable cores out there. got to source something from a junk yard and good luck finding one cheap.i got one for $60 shipped and these guys must not know what the hell they have. everyone else nationwide wants $125+ for the same axle.you can't interchange manuals axles for autos. all your parts warehouse will have auto's avail everywhere. manuals = ZERODealer cost on this axle is $501So right now i have my vert sitting on some beautiful chrome 19's with new tires, 3 12w6's 1500k in power with a bilstein/eibach setup and i have to push it in and out of my shop every morning and evening!! MrWinkey
From the way I read it you basically popped the tripod outta the cage on the inner. That could have been reassembled. Don't be so rough next time. Why did you have to remove it to begin with? The axle that is ? ;)
Autotechnica
My boot is ripped too, I just found out. It spewed grease all over my brakes and wheels. The dealers axelshafts are quite expensive, anyone have experience with FCP's aftermarket shafts and boot? It's less than half the price! Also, my car was making a poping and clicking noise over bumps. I changed my sway bar links myself because I thought that was the problem. If my CV joints are making noises, are they dead? Or can I just regrease and reinstall a new boot? Also, do I have to remove the same amount of things to get a new boot on as I would to replace the axelshaft? Thanks,Bryan

Honestly I would check with a local Napa if available. Been quite impressed with their axle line lately? You can install a new boot but if the axle is noisy I would recommend replacement of the faulty component.
