S60RDUDE
So I was browsing the IPD website which I have done a million times and I noticed some of their parts have really been jacked up in price. For instance last year I ordered a set of PBR deluxe pads they were $30 something now they are a little over $40.. Also same stock zimmerman rotors were $30 something each now $60 each.. and its across the board.. Now I understand about inflation but that is craptacular inflation! This is even more disturbing when FCP Groton has IPD's last year price and gives us a discount. I guess I just rep'd IPD and was proud to have their performance parts and knowledge I feel like this is a slap in the face.. I might even take the IPD badge off the back of my car.. Sorry for the rant I just hate getting ripped.

S60RDUDE
So these are the responses I got from IPD.. Bobby, I find your observation a little confusing. In March, we lowered all our brake and tune up part prices by a substantial percentage. We've continued to lower prices on other products as we find our prices out of line with the rest of the market. We used FCP and several other competitors sites to figure out where our prices needed to be. FCP is the low price leader. We're not really sure how they can live off those low margins. Maybe they don't have staff to answer the phones. Maybe they don't stock anything. If we fired all of our phone staff we might be able to live off those slim margins but we have overhead. -Kevin AND Bobby, Thanks for taking the time to write to us in regards to pricing. It is always easier to address issues that customers make us aware of than those that go unsaid. We live in a different marketplace than we did a few years ago and IPD is adjusting as we go. You may have found some prices that have increased, and at the same time a lot of our prices have gone down. We don't want to try and be the low-cost provider in the Volvo arena because we take pride in sharing a lot of information and knowledge that is useful to the Volvo owner. However we do want to be competitive in the marketplace. I reviewed the brake stuff you mentioned, and I'll give you some examples (since I don't know rotors your car was equipped with). PBR deluxe D1261 was 40.12 now 39.20 (FCP 35.00) PBR deluxe D102D was 18.40 (FCP 19.50) Zimmerman 271788Z was 59.50 now 49.80 (FCP 47.50) Zimmerman 271794Z was 45.46 (FCP 42.00) (The above price reductions won't show on the website until this evening, but they are active in our system). Again thanks for taking the time to express your feelings, David Precechtil COO I basically replied and said there should be some sort of reward for loyal Volvo customers who really advertise IPD and stand by their products. He replied those are valid points. LOLThought it was interesting so there you go enjoy the post.

Fudge_Brownie
It's why many don't give them my business anymore.Aside from getting a few laughs, I don't even bother going to their site any more. I look at the mail flyer and just giggle and the prices. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the BS they say in the descriptions rubs salt in the wound. If they cant live off those markups, then they need to check their book keeping. They are aware that LOWERING prices usually causes more people to buy, right? And I was always annoyed by the shipping. You wanna order one small thing, its like $8 to ship.

I do not think anyone would have a problem with that if they were always coming out with new and innovative products. IMHO at point it would be justified. But when you are just a reseller I cannot see the point on blowing huge wads on projects cars. IPDs advertising budget must be insane. Between stickers on race cars, full color catalogs, campaigning SEMA cars, and everything else. Scott always says he is going to advertise here but I guess they always find better ways to advertise. Either way if you do not like their politics just dont order from them.
850turbo
I totally agree on everything said here in this topic. This is why I basically never order from IPD, I never see them in the cyber Volvo Community. All their prices are a joke. I just have to do a little searching around and usually save my self and easy $50-$100.
