nagrod18
The antenna on my 850 is currently stuck in the up position. I am sure it is my fault, because it used to only stick out about 6 inches once in the down position and I hated it so I just pushed it in. After that, once it was out, it stayed out. I can hear the antenna try and move when I turn the radio on or off, but it only moves an inch or two. I want to fix this, would it just need a new antenna or could I have messed something else up, like the motor?
Veneficus
Take apart the pannel where the antenna is and check to make sure the white strip that connects to the motor is catching. Rich has a write up on how to replace them here. Also you may need a new mast. Link here.
matt1122
Hey man, at least you didn't have to start this thread, "I can't get it up!"
Burgundy_850
check to make sure the mast is straight by holding something straight next to it. if it's not, you can gently bend it back into shape. also rotate each section with plyers on cloth to make sure they can move freely where they slide into each other and aren't clogged with dirt. s40euro
If it is not mast then unassamble the whole staff and remove the small electric engine.Check the brushes and the rotor for dirt. Clean them with some degraser staff. It happened to me last month and I almost was going to purchase the whole darn new anntenna assembly which is quite expensive
nagrod18
thanks for all the replies they were all very helpful. I finally got around to checking out the antenna, I straightened it as best I could and made sure each segment could move freely. Then I took the mast out and made sure the white strip was catching on the motor (which was a huge pain). I got it to go back in and then I got it up too , but when it went down about six inches stayed out. Would I screw it up if I just cut about six inches off of that white strip? or should I just get a new mast? or what?
