This Is A Computer Question

So I built a new gaming PC Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz with 1333MHz FSB and 2 GB OCZ RAM with an NVIDIA 8600GT 256MB DDR3 PCI X16 Card. SATA 320GB 3.0GB sec HDD.

The goods - Windows loads fantastically. Using the game engine and the Nvidia control panel to allow application to determine video settings Need For Speed Carbon runs perfectly.

The Bads - All Ubisoft games Slinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and SC Double Agent run like CRAP! I think it might be something to do with the NVIDIA Control Panel settings but I know crap about Video card configurations such as Anti Aliasing and all that jazz.

The Question Does anyone know how I should configure the Nvidia control panel and what I should do to make the game run better? My old system ran Pandora tomorrow perfectly with my ATI.

It may not be the card. It may be a setting somewhere with your directX or any number of other variables.

True but other games work for instance NFS Carbon has a very detailed application controlled Video settings with in the game. It does a great job of configuring those settings. Ubisoft games.. NADA! Pandora Tomorrow has zero advanced graphics card settings. It seriously blows.
i dont use nvidia's control panel enough to walk you through it by memory, if no one helps you between now and 430pm est i'll give you a walkthrough on teh settings
I might just take you up on that I will be home at that time.

I don't see how the Nvidia control panel would be causing the problem because it overrides any in game settings so Need For Speed would be running like jerk as well. But just to double check just go in the panel and ensure everything is set to default.

I can't remember if Vista and XP share the same control panel still but if you go to anistropic filtering and anti-aliasing just set them to application controlled. Those are really the only things that could possibly kill performance.

Also just a word of advice, the only time you use the control panel to dictate what settings to run for a game (I.E. what your doing for NFS) is when you need to run HDR+AA which is not applicable in this situation. Given you'd need a 8800 series to get decent performance out of that combo anyway.

ALWAYS use the in game graphics options, for an 8600GT, depending on the res you play at you can muster up mostly Med-High settings with no AA and some AF. So for both NFS and SC:DA (<-- Worst in the Series) just go in the video options and manually select things.

Here's a guide and break-down of the forceware control panel,

The site also has various guides and comparisons in performance and image quality for games and their various settings, check out the NFS:MW one it's basically the same as NFS:C.

Sorry If I've confused you.
