Big Will
Yea, I see that. When they crack it makes sense that they crack starting from the drilled hole. At that point you need new rotors. Proper bedding of the pads and giving the rotors a chance to cool down after hard stops will help prolong the life of both pads and rotors. I do drive my car hard, but I always give the brakes a chance to recover. Also, after significant hard braking, it isn't good to just stop the car and turn it off...drive gently a bit. crazykn
I forget, but isn't Volvo's recommendation to never turn the rotors (resurface them)? For me, my pads and rotors (esp the front) wear out about every 10,000 miles (or in this case about 2 years for me), because I live in San Francisco on the hills, and have to go up and down and do mostly city driving for most of that 10K miles. I've decided i'm not going with the fancy drilled or even slotted ones anymore, because I saw little to no improvement whatsoever, other than the fact that my pads get eaten up quicker by the slots, and more dust being produced with the Volvo pads. Next time I will be going back to a solid rotor and trying out the Mintex pads as a alternative to the factory ones.
7 VII 7
I would love 302mm PowerSlot rotors.. but $500+ for a kit only in the front is a little much..... plus I have 16" wheels... eeeeeehhhhh
rivfader
I wouldn't get Zimmermann rotors, they're crap! Zimmermann doesn't recommend driving them with "sport" pads at all. I know of many people who only had problems with Zimmermann X-drilled rotors.I'd always get slotted rotors over drilled rotors...
Chilled man
Zimmermans with stock volvo pads works great
S60RDUDE
Nice post chilled they do look sweet.. I have a ton of stop and go traffic where I live always hard on the breaks.. wonder if I should go with the PBR Delux pads for a softer pad more gentle on the rotor and no brake dust.. Meh I dunno. Chilled man
eh , does it really matter I am not racing any of the cars and the only reason I went drilled was for looks nothing else

I hate hate hate hate Volvo OEM pads.if you are looking for performance for hard driving days on winding roads.... go with 302mm.... or 280mm solid rotors... or PowerSlot rotors or slotted rotorsif you get x-drilled you risk cracking at high temps/hard braking.....but it looks like you would need 302mm man
Gilhuly
I wouldn't do x-drilled again. Like any performance upgrade like this it helps with one thing(heat dissipation, looks?) at the expense of other things (longevity, durability). If you like the looks and don't mind the down side of the lesser durability and the sound they make go for it. I don't stray far from stock on the brakes on these cars.
