Bay13
Get the first one it has the blower cage on the motor and it's balanced to the motor, if you swap the one you have to the motor it might not be balanced or you might get by.
kenhoeve
My contention is that the cage basically balances itself(meaning there are clips already installed from the factory that balance the cage), so there is no need to balance it to the motor. In other words, if you have the means to get the old one off, it is pressed on, go for it. It is a bit of work but can be done. Then swap it onto the new one with a little hammering. Save $40.I did this successfully and saved $40. Booyah.
James100
Stew, How did you narrow it down to the blower? I have the same problem on a '94 850 turbo with ECC where the blower stopped working but im not sure if its some electrical component before you get to the blower. Ive taken out the glove box and the otherparts below it so Ive gotten a good look at whats in there.
Bay13
Good point, there is a resistor pack that could also cause the blower to not work.
stew
Hi James,In my case the blower is still working however I have a groan noise that eminates from that area when the fan is first turned on. If I turn it off after a while the noise will not be there as the motor has warmed up.I had my car serviced last week and got the mechanic to check it out. The fan was found to have high resistance and he said that the fan needs to be replaced.Hope this helpsCheers Stew
