Pete D
My antenna mast is screwed up and won't extend all the way unless I pull it up by hand. This is fine of course until I shut the car off. I'm looking for a way to disconnect the motor to the antenna. I suppose I could just snip the lead from the HU that triggers it, but I would rather not cut the wires if I don't have to. I pulled away some of the trunk lining but didn't see any particular connectors to unplug. Any tips would be very apreciated.Don't ask why I don't just replace the mast, long story.
potroast
a new mast is $40 if you thought it was expensive.if you peel the carpet back by the mast you will see the wiring harness between the mast and rear seat. Grey with blue stripe I believe is the wire you want.
Veneficus
You don't necessarily have to pull out just the antenna line, you could just unplug it alltogether, unless you still want your radio to pick up stations that are about 3 miles away...
AnthonyR
Just unplug the harness that goes to the motor (3 wires in that one I believe) that's what I did with mine as mine would always get stuck and I have sat radio now anyways. also the actual antenna will still be connected as that connects higher in the mast, but it just won't go up and down and that's what you're looking for I think
Modus
I have antenna problems too, unhooking it would poberly be the best bet. But to fix the antenna when it doesn't go down or up any more, Get a towel cup your hand and spray some lubricant wd-40, silicon spray, ect up and down the antenna. ( so you don't have to wash your car afterwards) Next pull the antenna up and down by hand carfully not to bend. Spray more lube. It should free up any hardend greese that's in the pully case. For me this lasts for about 2 months then you have to redo the process over again.

JehovArob
This is part of the reason I like my aftermarket headunit. I don't listen to the radio, only CDs, and it doesn't put the antenna up unless the radio is on. So, no need to worry.

It looks better driving around w/o an antenna up anyway =]Plus, I don't listen to the radio.

Veneficus
Sorry...but where can I find the harness that goes to the wire and which wires should I be looking for? Thanks!←The radio harness that you're looking for is located in the back left side of the trunk. There will be a pin that holds the pannel back so get a flathead screw driver and take that off. After doing that locate your antenna and you will see a black block comming off of it. If you want to disable the antenna, you will see a thick red line (the stable power) and then a smaller thinner red or blue line (don't quite remember which it is) that will also feed into the harness. This is the wire that you want to clip if you want to disable the radio. However, rather than cutting wires, just unplug the harness, so if at some point you do want to listen to the radio you can plug the harness back in. Guest Taylor
There's no reason to disconnect wires. Just take out the fuse for the antenna.
