So my Fedora Core 12 Beta install straight up froze the other day and on a hard reboot, the OS won't load. Just hangs after POST. After checking for a corrupt logical volume, and re-installing grub to the MBR, I post on a Fedora forum. Their admin with 16k posts tells me he's got no idea, to get my data off and reformat. WTF is this? Since when did Linux have the same troubles and lack of actual support that Windows has?

And to rub salt in the wound, I literally had a tab open reading about LVM duplication because I set this computer up with a drive intended to be a perfect image (along the lines of mirrored RAID) but had not found the right commands I was looking for just yet. If anyone knows how to copy an LVM from one drive to another AND have that drive be bootable, let me know

Don't tell me you're still running that Dell.

And why are you running the beta still?

No, Dell is on back-up, living room, and travel duty.

Built a system like 2 months ago. Intel E8400, 4gig DDR3, 4x 750gig SATA's, and literally the cheapest NVdia I could find  It's no video game machine.

FC12 stable release came out not long ago. I had an FC11 disc, which failed to install thanks to an install bug on certain hardware set ups. Fedora bug report knew of it, and the actual recommendation was to get FC12 Beta as a solution  I'll go for FC12 stable if I have to reinstall it.

Why Fedora in the first place? out of curiosity.

Had Red Hat before Fedora came to be, and kept with it. I like the Red Hat sponsorship, The RPM package manager, and large community. I was looking for something targeted at mid-level computing and a good example to learn linux.
