I have finally migrated all but one Wintel machine to some variant of Linux. Oh happy day.

n00b question, are you still able to run MS Office suite on a Linux machine ? How about anti-virus, which one are you running ?

My Dell took 2 attempts to boot up last night, I lose a driver every time I start it, unless I re-start it immediately, keyboard, sound, etc... I really don't want to buy a computer right now, so any thing I can do to help it along will save me some headaches.

There's a freeware alternative to MS Office called Open Office http://www.openoffice.org/ (also runs on Windows)

If the MS Office suite is really important to you, you could run a virtual machine with a copy of windows to run MS Office in.

Otherwise WINE might be able to help you, http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=10

He probably isn't running any AV

Yes, there is always an OpenOffice suite installed in Linux distributions, so you'll have a spreadsheet, word processor and presentation software to use. It is not Microsoft Office, but an equivalent.

I did an audit of all my Wintel machines to figure out why I needed WinXP, figured out I didn't really except to play games, which I don't do much of these days anyway.

Mike: wow! Now I know why I never got a PM with your address!

oh yeah, i'm still all banged up.

i'm laying on the ground crying out in pain in the attic and my oldest is sitting in the kitchen and doesn't move.

i make it down and basically crawl into the LR. about an hour later he asks if i'm OK.

check your PP and i'll get you my address in a second.

thanks.

Same here, it's a work computer only and my use of excel and word are fairly basic. As long as invoices can be created, I'm set.

Got both, thanks Mike.

I have never heard of this

New, limited time thing. It's "pulled" chicken (not that rubbery chunk crap) with bbq sauce.

The BBQ sauce comes on the side though, so make sure you ask them for it. Got that toasted with American cheese, lettuce, spinach and red onions. Done.

Me either and I'm in a Subway ~5 times a month. Hopefully it's not a regional-only promotion. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Last time I was in there I did see a sign for some new sandwich but I don't think it was this.

Btw, if you're looking for a new sauce, they keep the teriyaki sauce used on the Sweet Onion Teriyaki sandwich with the rest of them, unmarked. Just ask for it on any sandwich.

I like everything about Subway, minus the chicken. Not the new "pulled" chicken...but the chunky chicken. They can never get it hot enough, the center is usually cold and always tastes weird. <_<

I go to subway 4 to 5 times a week. That is much lunch about everyday during the work week. $6.16 for 6 inch meal... not too bad :)
