Mesoam
the second semester of our senior seminar for MIS was group work, there were 5 of us...2 of them didn't graduate because they didn't pull their weight....and no, I don't feel bad about it
Smithwicks
Frontier > Midwest ...sad to see the name go. if my family ever took a trip or something, if Midwest flew there we chose them. been declining for quite a while now. used to have great service, the extra wide seats, and they used to have meals with actual silverware and glasses, no plastic stuff. Fudge_Brownie
Fuck group projects. It's like working with a bunch of damn children. "Waaah, I felt too sick to do my part, I had to work, I was really busy". Shut the fuck up. If I can work a full time job while taking full credits you can write three double spaced fucking pages. 1.5 pages of content? Agreed, tell them to stfu and deliver. Hardly a big task. So I was at Subway for Lunch. Order a Footlong sandwich, I present the cashier with a coupon for "Free six inch with purchase of six inch and a drink", as I've done several times in the past. She is confused, and seeks approval from the manager on whether I can do this since I didn't order two 6 inch subs. Apparently, no one taught her that half a foot is 6 inches. I did my part in like 2 hours, including finding all the info and what not, no reason why they can't. ..which is why she's working at subway. Talk to your professor about it. My wife always hears students out when they're in your shoes and acts on it. the second semester of our senior seminar for MIS was group work, there were 5 of us...2 of them didn't graduate because they didn't pull their weight....and no, I don't feel bad about it Good. I did the same in an MBA class and I don't regret a thing. Screw dead weights, why should I work harder for their laziness ? Funny thing about these posts: Josh and I were just talking about that today.
Fudge_Brownie
Not sure if I ever shared this one, but on a year long senior project, I kept a word doc that was basically a journal of everything our lead screwed up/ignored/lied about. Meeting notes, AIM convo logs, quotes, time lines, everything. Almost 5 pages of content if I remember right. I submitted that to the professor at the end of the project during our team review. I didn't keep this all from the professor though, I met with him several months before the end of the project as well. He wasn't surprised by what I had to say, which made things real simple. Can't say if it had any effect. All I know is that an acceptable grade was received on my end, my ass was covered, and I contributed as much as I could. I'm going to see what they say from this email and if they deliver in the next couple days. If not, then I'll bring these issues up. I just keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. 7 VII 7
I don't understand people that do not pull their own weight on a group project... don't you want to do well in your project especially if it is for a grade or for your job? That is what I don't understand.

Black Betty
^^ I dont get it but in response to the group projects. I've been there before where the group meets at times I specifically cant and mentioned before the project, and then when I try to find out what I can do they can't find anything. Even when theres a 30 page report someone could be typing . I like to be leader just for those reasons. That and it seems like no one knows how to put on a decent presentation. Power point is an aid, not a crutch, unless your audience is blind dont read the damn slides.

Oh well, at least now shit will get done, or at least it better. My group members will not reply to emails, will say they can show up to meetings and then not come, will give bullshit excuses as to why they can't come to meetings, etc. Just shit you would expect to hear in middle school, not the final years of college. Oh, and I just found out how easily porcelain stains. Just washed the valve cover from my wagon in my tub. Stained the entire bottom black. tried getting it off with an SOS pad, pushed the grime further into the porcelain. Took a full bottle of bleach to clean the bottom. I would have been fucked if the tub would have stained since it already has a shit load of scratches in it from washing my wheels in there after sanding them.

Should I still use the pot? oh and you'd expect engineering students to recognize that shorts and a t shirt are not acceptable attire to present in. Funny thing is last semester (3rd) my group was the only one dressed even in buisness casual....
