Probably would depend on how lazy the attendant is and if you feel like spilling gas all over the place. Technically, you would need an approved container (a lot of pumps even have approved container warning labels) but I'd bet there are plenty of mini mart jockies that wouldn't put down their magazine over it.

And what are they gonna do about it anyway? talk to you over the loudspeaker and say "hey dude at pump #7, you can't use that mayonnaise jar to hold fuel!" if it's pay at the pump and you don't need them to authorize it, can they even cancel the transaction inside?

Yes, they can turn off the pumps from inside. Though, I'm not sure they'd bother if it was 3AM and they've had their daily ration of jerky and ho-hos.

Best bet is to go out and try it! Bring a video camera. If you get pulled over just tell the cops that you needed some gas. They'll understand and might even let you use one of their buckets if you need more.

Matt's car was the dead giveaway that it was the CFL for me. Still had the old wheels and the amber lights... Found it on Flickr.

LOL he still has those lights.

And I worked on Kale's car for just a little bit while we were building Matts suspension. He needed a couple odds and ends before putting it back together but could easily be put back together in a weekend. We did put on his Unorthodox pulley though :shrugs:

i forgot oregon's the only place where they do it for you  , i'm sure it'd be fine doing it yourself, the idea just seemed weird if you would be asking someone to fill your bucket.
