NEU
My sister in-law has only driven in snow once in her life (she's 30!) having grown up in S. Florida. Because her Kia had shitty tires on it? Or she's a terrible driver? Otherwise, I fail to see how she would have been stranded. You failed to read too...

The problem is the roads are not handled like they are "up north". You guys have plows, salt, gravel and stuff. GA is like why get that shit for something that happens every 5 years.
Dick Dastardly
Snowpocalypse... thats a good one. Here's how the streets look here. No one gives a fuck. People even drive Kia's here.. So now when all you southern guys say things about all season performance tires and Akebono brake pads sucking...Just remember the last couple days. NEU
No word on the Polestars yet, but word from VCNA is they (dealership) are getting some of the turbo & supercharged 4 cyl's in a couple weeks. VCNA wants them to drive the new V60s around for a bit and get used to the new engine and trans for a bit before they go on sale. Not a bad gig if you ask me My folks are in the market for a new car, looking at the s/v60s, my local dealer has v60, but IDK which one and if you can test drive them yet... We don't usually get as hot up here.. but we still buy air conditioners.

My dealer sent me an email inviting me to take a v60 on a test drive IF I was serious about purchasing.

Brother in law's from NJ and has lived in ATL for a few years now, he was saying that the drivers weren't the issue: the highways and countless bridges all froze within minutes of snow hitting tyhe ground. Everything turned to ice. Ice storms without salt and hundreds of thousands of commuters is very different than a few flurries.
caanglin
With all this weather talk lets not forget about the black ice hazard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efiW2K8gASM The main issue was ice. I think metro Atlanta is something like 5-6 million.
Fudge_Brownie
You failed to read too... What did I fail to read? That she drove in snow once? So what? I don't get what Subaru and AWD and her Shitty Kia have anything to do with her inexperience. Her lack of driving skills would have left her stranded. AWD doesn't make it magically stop and turn better. The problem is the roads are not handled like they are "up north". You guys have plows, salt, gravel and stuff. GA is like why get that shit for something that happens every 5 years.I know, but I don't see what your response has to do with my question. (Not trying to be a dick, but I bet it reads that way) Though driving in an inch of unplowed snow versus the slush created by a salt/sanded road really isn't much different. If anything, it makes the traction more predictable. Though when dealing with ice, the salt and sand is an enormous improvement.

caanglin
I'm surprised they had enough in the budget for that.
