Piston Slapper
Volvo could do very well if they played off their safety ratings, and made a more repairable car. Their design is fantastic IMO, they just need to get away from the European weirdness in the electrical systems before I'd ever consider new. I wish... unfortunately they think they want to compete with BMW and Mercedes rather than sensibly designed cars.
Black Betty
I'd lean more towards a Subaru. New subs with their low friction oil rings are burning oil like no one's business. My coworker bought a 2013 impreza last year and it was burning ~2 qts/1000 miles They eventually re-ringed the motor and gave it back to him. Me: I'm thinking I replacing the tdi with a Mazda3. Not that the TDI is bad though.
mattsk8
New subs with their low friction oil rings are burning oil like no one's business. My coworker bought a 2013 impreza last year and it was burning ~2 qts/1000 miles They eventually re-ringed the motor and gave it back to him. Me: I'm thinking I replacing the tdi with a Mazda3. Not that the TDI is bad though. I hear you. All new cars make me nervous these days. Not to sound like an old man and say 'they don't make em like they used to', but I think they're all playing w/ things they don't entirely understand in the name of being green. I didn't know the Subarus were using oil, that's too bad. Reminds me of the cars from the late 70s and 80s when they were all starting to get into emissions. My dad has a fully loaded 2013 Chevy Malibu w/ the turbo 4 cylinder. He's 1 visit to the dealership for the same issue away from having the car taken back under the lemon law. Its been loosing power gradually since he bought it. If you jumped in it and drove it for the first time you probably wouldn't know its an issue accept that it doesn't have the power it should. At first they argued it wasn't an issue and was all in his head, on this last visit they found 4 mildly bent intake valves in the head. The car has 15k miles on it and they don't know why the valves bent. Pretty scary all things considered. The crazy thing is, for having 4 bent valves the thing didn't really chug much, it just didn't have the power it was supposed to. The other weird thing is it didn't throw a CEL. Not to say my heap of Volvo that I'm driving now has been good to me, but at least I don't have over $30k invested when or if it goes south. caanglin
the r32 I've been looking at couple. Most are typical bolt on cars. I'm not ready to pull the trigger. Not 100% decided on doing it and I would need to sell the 951 first. It seems to be way easier to find illegal R33's.
