survolvo
Pretty cool video. All that footage was a ways north of me. That was around Hurricane Point and the Bixby Bridge.

MattyXXL
So whos knows anything abot merc's or know a tech that works for Merc? In my family car search I've come across a 06 CLS500 for a unbelievable price. or at least I thought it was till I started looking for them and found out they are almost all priced that low. I need to know what the deal is on these, how could a originally 100k car be selling for under 20k?

I need to know what the deal is on these, how could a originally 100k car be selling for under 20k?Easy, because they weren't $100k. They were $70k. After that, the same reason that Kevin said. All the big saloons do this. Look up the MSRP on an 06 E55, versus what they're going for today. Same with the S-class.There's also the "last years car" factor. Kevin.
Easy, because they weren't $100k. They were $70k. After that, the same reason that Kevin said. All the big saloons do this. Look up the MSRP on an 06 E55, versus what they're going for today. Same with the S-class. There's also the "last years car" factor. all of those electronics age and fall apart and they are not cheap to fix at all. For example, on E65/E66 7-series there is a passenger seat sensor that fails whenever you sit down with too much force on the seat which happens more than you think. Price to fix the sensor because it sets off SRS and seat calibration issues? $2,500. Happens every 3 or 4 years. Wiper blades (from the dealer) are $110 for a set, oil change is $120, full brake job front and rear (rotors and pads) is over $1,000. Headlight bulbs are $400 a side. It adds up SUPER fast. Timbo Slice
I second the "Last Year's Car" factor. People who buy these are paying a premium for a new car, and will dump them to get the next new model. People who buy these cars used aren't looking for the newest or nicest cars, they just want the brand and the price comes down significantly.

Smithwicks
Roommate is installing new brake pads on his Tacoma right now and we are working through trying to diagnose a pedal that's still squishy. We've replaced the master cylinder and plenty of bleeding have been done and we still cant figure it out. The one thing we noticed was the actual ceramic pad compressing against the rotor. I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything conclusive. So the stupid question is, are brake pads themselves supposed to compress? And on a lighter note:
survolvo
Sure you guys are bleeding in the correct order? Sounds like you have air trapped somewhere. Pads don't compress.

Hes going farthest to closest, so passenger side rear being the first one. When he presses down on the pedal you can physically see the pad itself compress, its the weirdest thing. survolvo
Maybe I'm wrong, but I have never seen a pad compress. I have seen sponges compress, but never a brake pad. Try finding a diagram for the bleeding sequence. Sometimes the logical sequence isn't the right sequence. Not familiar with the Yota, but I worked on an older Ford one time that had an ABS valve in the middle of the line that had to be bled...
