Been an interesting couple weeks. 2 weeks ago Saturday we did a skate trip to send my buddy that's moving to Portland OR off. While we were at Skatopia, another friend that went with us broke and dislocated his ankle, so he spent that Saturday at the ER in Huntington WV. Was a frigging gnarly break too. Last Saturday we had another skate session, and another friend fell and broke his hip (was actually his femur right at his hip). Not a good couple weeks. Ironically, the friend that's moving broke his ankle a year ago. Based on all that, I'm not sure if I buy into this...

It's legit since he was sitting on his dad lap while he moderate VS forum.

 I almost forgot that you've been here for quite a while too.

Funny thing is my dad showed me the forum way back in '01 when I was in grade school. Back then I just lurked the racing forums as a guest, thinking to myself "OMGOSH Volvos are so fast. Awesuuuuuumuhhh!"

Went go post in the 1998 and prior subforum and it seems things have changed with the last big update - for people that know, and sorry for this seemingly stupid question, where can I ask general questions?

I'm looking into 1998 V70 GLTs and was looking for all info under the sun...maintenance, experience, what to look for, etc.

What do you think has changed?

The 1998 and older FWD/AWD section still exists: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/forum/6-fwdawd-1998-and-prior/ And that'd be a great place to read and post. I see in your profile you've owned a 97 850. Base trim? The 98 V70 will be mechanically similar to the 850's. In terms of maintenance/repair, the V70 GLT and T5 trims are pretty much the same. Just slightly different specs on the engine resulting in different performance.

Jay Adams skated and surfed until the day he died. So he was right.

I quite skating because I was never going to make any money off of it.

fun < breaking a bone a risking a job, insurance, etc.

Live a little. YOLO

I still skate here and there, but I'm a longboarder so I can do that forever.

You can still get hurt on a longboard. If not you're not doing it right.

My dad was good friends with Tom Sims, and is still good friends with Michael Hess, who has taken over Sims skate and snowboards since Toms passing.  I grew up around on skateboards, specially long boards. Its a little dangerous around here though, since the only place to ride is PCH.

Yeah, he was probably my favorite skater. A pioneer who didn't have anything to prove, he just loved to skate.
