Best Amp To Power This Old Sub?

I recently installed a amp/sub config in my 960 sedan but my brother said i'd probably need a more powerful amp for the sub since it was installed in his car before (same car, hand-me-down). Although we don't know remember the model number anymore, we DO know that it's from Audiomobile and it's a 10" model. I currently have an Alpine MRP-m650 hooked up to it rated at 400w for it at 4ohms. So any suggestions on a better amp for it would be great. My budget needs to stay under $1000 for the amp though. for under $1000 you have sooooooooo many choices. i would recommend a JL 1000/1 which you can easily get on ebay for $500.

It's tough to recomend an appropriate amp without first knowing the specs of the sub. If you guys could dig up any better info we could help you much better. Anything else is just a complete shot in the dark.

here put it to this.. and lets see what happens...

but then again. if this sub only draws 4-8 ohms you wont get any power out of that thing.. soo you'll need a ab amp to run it.. class d's only run .05 to about 2 ohms.. sooo
