after a few topics recently talking about c70 speakers, does anyone have pictures of the speakers w/ the door panels off? also how can i take off the door panels and rear deck speaker covers w/o breaking them? so from my understanding the speaker layout for non sc901 systems in the c70 is:

1" tweets in dash

4" midrange in doors

8" bass/midbass in doors

8" bass/midrange in rear deck

1" tweets in rear deck

is that correct? i dont have the center channel speaker in my c70 so im assuming they're not dynaaudio. they sound ok i suppose but my rear speakers are rattling all the time and i cant take it much more, ill have to get some dynamat for them

Unfortunately it isn't quite that straightforward. The fronts are actually about 8.5" with 6 mounting holes and 2" depth. I have a convertible, so I can't say the coupe is the same, but my rears (subwoofers) are 9" and I believe they had 4 mounting holes, but it's been awhile since I've had the rear seat back out. Tweets are a custom 1" universal for P1 (and possibly 850 dash).

Ill be taking all my speakers apart in the near future. If you can hang tite, ill post pics up of my progress. I have a coupe.

nice, ill be looking forward to that. exepat, i dont have subs behind my seats, i checked it out last night. just the rear deck speakers/subs/tweets whatever they are. i have a coupe like ovlov not a convert like you. does even the stock non dolby c70 system have an amp? if so where would it be?

the backs are subs. But i think the verts have bigger ones to compensate for the open air. They didnt need big ones in the coupe cause its all covered up, thus enabling better acoustics with less ommph. If ur dynaudios are working , try putting in a cd with a lot of bass, and switching to the surround sound mode. gaurentee those rears will light those rearview mirrors up. If that aint a sub, i dunno what is.

dont have the center chan speaker system in my coupe. isnt there also 2 subs BEHIND the rear seats if you have the SC901 system? im talking about the speakers on the rear deck of the coupe. i sat in my backseat and turned up the bass and played some rap and i definetly can say i have no sub behind the rear seats, but could feel the rear deck when it wasnt rattling like crazy

My rear deck are definitely subs. But, I have a SC900 dolby system. There are no speakers behind the seats, just in the deck for mine. I do not know the sizes, mine don't rattle yet, so i have not had to pull that apart.

I dunno dude. I have the center channel with the SC900 and I have speakers in the rear deck, and they hit HARD. They ARE subs. Only the vert got the speakers facing the seat, and that is only because there is no deck in a vert. Check the speakers and see if you got the Dynaudio package. It should say it directly on the speaker magnet if you do. Im not sure, but someone mentioned that not all C70's got the Dynaudio speakers. My car got the FULL GT packages. 18inch wheels, auto dimming rear view mirror, etc, etc. So I got the works. All my speakers read Dynaudio and my rears kick like no other.

yeah, then i dunno if yours are subs. They are prolly just regular. If you had the dynaudios then they would be subs. I get my car back on friday, so, ill snap pics then.

well they're def 8 inch speakers/subs in the rear deck but i've never seen an 8" speaker, i have seen the kicker 8" midbass and regular 8" subs. ovlov do you know how to take off the rear deck for the c70 to get to the spekers or remove the door panels?

I dunno how to do the rear, i was just gonna look at it and do a kinda "unclip here and unscrew there" until the plastic pieces came off. Boston volvo faxed me directions on removing the doors a lil while ago. If they are in good enough condition, ill get a good scan of em and post em up. But I cant do any of that till sat, since my car is still in the shop getting painted.

I've got a 2000 c70 convertible with similar bass issues. I can I get at the supposed speakers that are "inside" the back seats and facing forward. I'm not sure it I've got anything happening in back other then the speakers in the backseat side walls. The manual states the the vert has 12 speakers. I'm not hearing all of them!

I have yet to open up the deck in my C70, but I'm pretty sure one or both of the tweats are gone. They rattle quite often and I know they're blown. So it could just be the tweaters.

First check the subwoofer mute switch on the rear console, then check that your fuses on the amp are intact. My C70 had a blown amp fuse for the subs and once I replaced that, they were fine.
