jdlc
I'm interested in getting a 96 or 97 Turbo ECU since I understand it will work with my 94 855, with disabled egr to boot.I'm just wondering, would 850 GLT (which from what I understand is LP Turbo) ecu be different from 96-97 HP Turbo ecu (As found on Turbo/T5/R)?ThanksOrleeC

jdlc
So it's totally different, not just the mapping? It won't be a good idea then to have one (an LPT ecu) as a base unit for chipping, say Inmotion chip, to be used in 94 850 HPT. Yellow95
Dont do it. 936 (GLT) ecu is motronic 4.4. 96-97 ecu is motronic 4.3. I heard it will fry your ac controls and you will definitely get a check engine light for Air Pump as the 96-97's dont have it.Gary
jdlc
Thanks for the response Gary.EDIT: Read your post and you did say that in fact 97 GLT is Motronic 4.4.I got my answer. Thanks,OrleeCDont do it. 936 (GLT) ecu is motronic 4.4. 96-97 ecu is motronic 4.3. JHEIII874T5M
Yes, 97 LPT has been noted to use Motronic 4.4. http://www.wothrline.com/Cars_engine/M43_M44/M4x_index.htm
jdlc
Interesting link Joseph, and I quote "One important thing to remember about the Bosch systems is that engine performance is NOT controlled by boost pressure. The torque regulation is controlled by air mass flow through the MAF"This remind me a post saying that "960 AMM should increase your HP - especially if you're boosting" (AMM is the same as MAF, right?)as found here http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=84692Any comment on that?(BTW, yes, using a MBC, my intake vacuum port where the middle nipple of the BCS is supposed to be connected is plugged-up).Yes, 97 LPT has been noted to use Motronic 4.4. http://www.wothrline.com/Cars_engine/M43_M44/M4x_index.htm
JHEIII874T5M
A 960 MAF (same as AMM) can help elevate the max airflow the ECU can see, such as the 00R's I believe come with a 3" MAF vs. our 2.5" MAFs. There's a higher flow limit ceiling on the larger MAFs, however tuning must be adjusted for it. Naturally, keep in mind we are a MAF based system. The blanket statement of a 960 AMM/MAF increasing HP is not exactly accurate in this application, without the appropriate tuning.
