Different Intake Manifolds

Not sure if this has been covered before (can't find anything on it through search), but I just noticed there are two different style intake manifolds. There's one with curved tubes (on 90's models) and then there's the straight tubes (like on the S60R). And apparently the straight manifold was used on T-5's as well. I've been wondering if there would be any benefits in using the straight instead of the curved.

Oh and where is the throttle body on the S60R manifold? on the bottom?

this is interesting, I didn't even know this was done b4...the only thing I don't like is the fact that the S60R intake mani sticks out much further...correct me if I'm wrong...

From what i have heard the 850 intake manifold has just as much flow as the S60R ones. There might be some very small abouts of flow differents but nothing to even make a diff. I would personally pick the 850 intake over the S60R intake just because i think it works better and looks better.

Best just to make one or have one made if you're considering changing it.
True, a custom would probably be better though it would only be a necessity if everything else was modified to the max.

An interesting idea I've had after looking at some more S60R pictures would be to use that manifold with a RIP kit and a narrower battery rotated 90 degrees against the driver side fender. That would make a massive amount of space for an absolutely ridiculous intake and extremely short charge air plumbing if using a stock mounted intercooler.
