Austin H
Maxed the local dyno at 1090 @ 2100RPMMy only suggestion as with all trucks. It needs stacks. 1090 is awesome though. Loving the projectors.Sorry for taking over the thread but you know trucks and towing it goes hand in hand.

USMC850T
I use my volvo to tow my formula car trailer, which is an open home built single axle piece of shit. It weighs something like 275, plus the car at about 500, and 150 pounds of tools and miscellaneous bullshit. I wouldn't tow any more than what I take now and I will only bring 1 passenger. Acceleration and stopping are OK but the 850 is definately not meant for anything more than that.
kenhoeve
I pulled a 2,800 lb trailer(in my T5) for over 3,000 miles over the Rockies, Cascades, and Sierras, with no problem. The car has plenty of torque to handle it. You just need to keep it planted in 3rd gear AT ALL TIMES and be careful with your braking. Also make sure the tongue weight is less than 250lbs. Do not get caught in weather and do not drive in high wind.
TM850R
Hmmm dont get caught in weather or wind going into the mountains...that sounds reasonable.Get a truck if you want to tow lots of stuff. The 850 isnt made for it.
Kibim
I used the R to tow for a long time, a heavy trailer, around 800kgsIt wasn't pretty. And wet weather made turning a serious issues. In the wet, in 3rd, I had no traction. I've bought an XC70 to tow with. The power on the 5cyl is plenty, but the FWD is bad. And w/o LSD, i can't even bear to think about it. Asinine
Wow.. you folks really are a bunch of squares.. LOL.I used to tow my families 1300lb boat and trailer on a 740GL with 450,000km for 600km hauls at nearly 70mph and sure I burned some gas, but no mechanical failures. The trailer I pictured is 1700lbs and will most of the time be empty (shittier with the wind I guess). It really just has to serve as a mobile home instead of a gear hauler. To make this journey I'm quitting my job so the "buy this and that vehicle" is dumb since when not towing (most of the time), I'll need the wagon for there and backs to the numerous locales i'll be rocking!I can't find a perfect stat, but from what's coming up on google, it looks like the towing capacity of the car is around 3000lbs + warranty safety margin means I have room for 1300-1500ish lbs of gear before I'd really be over working the car.Plus the black wagon, and a black trailer, tinted and with 8 'mag' wheels would look SICK cruising the Trans Canada Highway!!! B1mmer
I am thinkiing grant is right what is the tow raiting of the volvo ? anyone ? also what is GWV of the trailer and with the extra weight in the trailer I dont think it will work. But if it doesJust get a Generator for your power , a Honda its the quitest on the market and for heating at night time I would get two propane bottels and use some sort of small heater in the trailer . now I would see if you could get a propane powered genny so you would only have to have one fuel sourcealthough I would might want to stick with electric heat in the trailer so you dont snuff yourself out one night if the gas heater goes funky.Che, the 855 is tow rated to 3500#. Now, I wouldn't suggest towing that much, but it will work fine, it just won't be pretty. - AB
uscgc70
This is what i tow with my XC70 and don't have any problems. the quads are 600 lbs. each and the trailer is around 400, so weight wise, you're not that far from me. Keep this in mind though, you have a different trans, engine, and lack of awd, plus it's not just the weight of a trailer that matters. you're virtually towing a sail. a gust of wind is going to throw you around like a ragdoll. Asinine
I'm still going to go ahead with this plan, I only need it to go cross country once, after that some spring time trips north (Yukon, Alaska, etc.).One thing I've really neglected that even when towing with the 740, that was RWD which is so much better with the huge jerk weight. I'll prevail, I always do! ;)
