5 1/4 Speakers Recommendation

Alright...I been out of the game for several years so I dont keep up to date on audio anymore. I thought a pair of Punch speakers I grabbed from my brother was in working condition so I torn up my OEM speakers to get the ring adapter to put the other speaker in (depth issue) and come to find out those speakers had tear on the outside ring

Therefore, I need to get replacement speakers. My budget is limited as I don't care much about audio anymore and running on stock HU with factory amp (premium stereo package). Ideal speaker depth is ~2". I'm leaning toward

Kenwood KFC-1361S 5-1/4" 3-way Speakers unless you guy have a better suggestion. My top limit is $70 for pair of speakers. I got all of these info from Crutchfield and shipping is $6.99 from them. Thanks in advance.

I also have the Infinity Reference 5012i and they are way better than stock. I haven't heard any of the others you've mentioned but I bought the Infinity's from someone on the forum and they definitely have good sound to them, they've got a little bass but I bought them more for sound quality.

$49.99 shipped on Ebay?

Found this to be the cheapest on.....Think it is a good deal?

Well sellers feedback looks good. I've never had good experience on Ebay with speakers. I got two 6x9 infinity speakers and one was blown. Other than that it looks like an awesome deal.

I have two eclipse cd players in my Ford and Volvo and I've never heard anything better. I now replaced my 6x9 in my van with them and I will soon be getting component speakers and an amp through eclipse for the Volvo. My buddy just got one for his car. He couldn't find one that sounded good until he got into my car and heard it. Not a lot of people use eclipse but its a good product.

I believe a few years back there was some guy sponsored by eclipse for car audio. He won every competition he was in.

If I couldn't go eclipse though, I would go infinity.

Edit: One thing you got to understand though with Eclipse is its made to hear the music the way its supposed to. Kind of the same way with Studio Monitors. There are speakers that hold much more bass but the crossovers are crap in them and you'll hear a dip in the frequency response. Eclipse from my experience has the most detail out of every speaker I've heard. You can go to circuit city and listen to them. Best Buy doesn't carry them but Crutch field, Circuit City and some other place does.

I had experience with Eclipse HU in the past and they were good. Bought the speakers off the Ebay so I'll see. I did paid for $2.00 optional insurance

  • 2 weeks later...

I was looking at those Infinitys too. Crutchfield has the separates which should be well worth the extra $40 since the tweeter would be on the dash and they have a superior crossover.

BUT, it's a pain to install since you must break apart the factory wiring (or run new wire).

Has anyone run a "separates" setup in an 850 or 70 and how did you like it?

Hell, I'll post a new thread.
