Paul33603
Hey guys, I recently bought a JVC Arsenal series car stereo with the PICT feature. I really like it but am not impressed with the MP3 playback. Actually I am not sure if its the player or the software I am using the burn the disk. I am using Windows Media player converting to an MP3 format. It burns the disk with no problem however the sound quality SUCKS! I have put about 10 disks on one MP3 disk and the sound is not what I am use to, crackles and just not good sound. Anyone have any ideas? I have also burned 1 disk into MP3 format thinking maybe it would sound better but it doesnt. I have burned many plain CDs and it works great.. Any info is appreicated! Thanks, Paul
Guest UnsanePyro
Is it the head unit giving you the crappy quality, or the mp3s, what are they encoded at? I would suggest at least 192...
maiku
i too think it is the encoding bitrateand microsoft isn't the best at encoding mp3si suggest getting audioripper to get the wav's from your cd's, then using dbpoweramp to convert them into mp3 format192 is the minimum you should encode at. i personally would go with 320. if space is an issue, try a variable bit rate if your stereo supports it
Bing_0
in my experince, the jvc arsenal units sound as good playing mp3s as other units, it must be the encoding or hte quality of hte fileb

Frinkiac
the long answer: windows media, in order to save space, uses a lower bitrate but special encoding to make the quality played through regular home stereo/computer speakers adequate. and what you're actually doing when you burn the disk, is filling in the holes that the program created when it ripped them originally, so that cd players won't freak out when you put them in there. so what you really want to do is get a higher end program (such as nero) and you won't have any problems ripping or burning any other cds and the quality will be as good as you want/can afford. the short answer: microsoft sucks with media. if you spend 35$ on nero you'll be saving your patience and ears. maiku
oh righti forgot that you have to burn the mp3's onto a cdi agree that nero is an excellent program
Paul33603
Ok downloaded NERO and it worked well!!!!!!!!! It basically doesnt sound like crap anymore. Here is what my "system" consists of, 5.25 Infinity Ref's upfront, 6.5 Infinity Kappas in the back, an unnamed amp & sub, and the JVC Arsenal H/U (which is really NICE by the way). My sound is finally on par where I wanted it. I am happy with it, with shopping on Ebay and just waiting on a good deal I spent less then $500 for everything and it beats my Dakato with Bose by a LANDSLIDE!!!Thanks guys, Paul
