sjmcarz
Did the strut tops on the 01 XC, finally a nice enough day to do it, state inspection is due this month. Noticed the top motor torque mount was completely torn, will pick a new one up at work tomorrow.
mattsk8
I'm about to freak out, these back brakes are going to be the end of me. I got my new parking brake cables all in, new shoes and all new hardware on, and went to put my new rotors on and those were wrong. So I cleaned up my old rotors and threw those back on, pulled the ebrake handle and it just pulled all the way up w/ no grabbing. Long story short, wrong shoes. Ordering all that crap (again) tomorrow.

Oreo931
Replaced oil cooler lines (royal PITA) and PCV on the 855R. Also replaced all the vac lines with silicone while I was in there. Then changed the oil.

Ordering all that crap (again) tomorrow. I've at least figured out the rotors; mine's a 99 but I need to order rotors for a 98. I won't know about the shoes until they come in later today. I'll be at it again tonight (this will be my 3rd attempt at making my parking brakes work).

savannahvolvoguy
Its not "today" but rather Saturday. I repaired the moonroof on my wife's s60. The mount for the air deflector also serves as a guide to get the roof into "vent" position had come unglued. It caused the roof to make a horrible grinding and crunching noise. It also prevented the roof from retracting fully. It took a hell of a lot of work to even figure out how the thing went back together but after a little JB weld the peice is back in there now its only a matter of how long. Why the hell would such an important part simply be glued into place? Today I attempted to put a '99 abs module into my '98 v70. That did not work at all. Back to the drawing board. That will never work. Get a rebuild from Midwest ABS aka VS member Matty Moo, great price, quality, and warranty.

pdlarson
Started it. That doesn't sound like much but in this weather everything is a challenge. Thankfully I was (and usually am) able to start it. It was a balmy 15 degrees in my garage, significantly warmer than outside! I usually don't park inside but I don't have a block heater and my Suburban does so it was out and plugged in. At these temps, the foam in the seats even gets stiff. Getting in to start the engine is like sitting on a board. Even breathing hurts but we're all at work and school and carrying on as usual. In this weather, just breaking down on the side of the road can become a life threatening ordeal especially for people who think they should try to walk to find help or are injured in a damaged car that no longer runs or provides shelter due to broken glass etc... A friend of mine outside of town has no runinning water because either the submersible pump or the buried pipes froze. Around here we call that a hard freeze. Not your usual 0 deg F sissy freeze But no complaints here, I'm just sharing and NOT feeling sorry for the rest of the country. At least we didn't get two feet of snow...
