Brickster151 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Share Posted February 22, 2009 Installed pics soon....did some other stuff todayConverting the strut housings from lame one-piece units [have to pull the strut out to change a ball joint] to two piece, also going from a solid rotor setup to vented. Picked up the strut housings complete with fresh wheel bearings and barely used brake stuff [pads/rotors look fresh] for $20, and snagged some really nice hoses from the junkyard for the brakes too. Now feels faster than stock, which did 10 psi. Most likely isn't actually faster, but the reduced spool time makes things fun This went in shortly prior to hitting 8 psi. Didn't get a picture after install because it was getting dark out, but rest assured there are zip-ties and it looks pretty ghetto.I'll turn it up later. volvoluvin Posted February 22, 2009 Report Share Posted February 22, 2009 Finally installed my boost gauge package from IPD...easy to do, but I'm so not impressed with the quality of the pod, didn't expect to have to make the gauge opening larger in order for the gauge to fit seeing as it comes as a kit together...Good to see vacuum and boost appear to be rock solid for a 14 year old car. Sold IPD's and will do the same w/ my single soon as I went with a triple.....they fit alot better I think, plus I wanted a Wideband and voltmeter so... (I'm sure they've heard that, but I feel the need). I do think I'm going to move to a WB as well down the road, so like you, hopefully the triple's fit better. I'll probably also mold it into the A Pillar so it looks an actual part of the car.Just as an aside, what do most of you see for you Vacuum numbers? @ Idle I'm seeing 20, which would seem appropriate. The car also holds the rock solid 9psi, and then see's the T5-R's tune kick it up the extra 2psi for 30 seconds...nothing special about the numbers, just excited that it confirms my belief that this car is in as a good a condition as I'd thought. You are most likely going to have to sand/enlarge at least one of the holes in the triple pod. I had to do it for all three. Its probably just a result of the gauge pod mold.
