uscgc70
My 2003 xc just started throwing transmission codes 0700 and 0740. they are for control system malfunctions, but I don't know what they mean beyond that. anyone have this happen before? It has the GT trans.
Chilled man
hmmm dont know but I have a picture for you how is the weather up there ?
uscgc70
the weather is cold and snowy, 40knot winds and 20-25 ft seas. we've been getting pounded all week and won't see home til mid-December, which makes troubleshooting very difficult. Car looks good, I can't wait to see more pics with those springs on. okay back on topic, anyone with any info would be much appreciated as there is no dealer where i live so that's out of the question, I need to fix this by myself and as soon as I pull back into port. dmelviØØ7
If it is a T6 you need a new transmission.

dmelviØØ7
You could have the dealer do a TCM upgrade.
Chilled man
Hey while I got you here, did you change the timing belt ? also was the tranny oil and engine oil changed ? and what oil where you planning on using on the rear bevel gear ? echristodo
Beyond a TCM upgrade and a trans flush, there is not a whole lot you can do except either deal with the lights and wait till the trans fails, or repalce it arbitrarily. uscgc70
The trans has been flushed with the proper fluid. is there anyway i can get the software to download myself? there isn't an accessible dealer. has anyone seen these codes before? Ihatespeedbumps
The trans has been flushed with the proper fluid. is there anyway i can get the software to download myself? there isn't an accessible dealer. has anyone seen these codes before? You sure it was the proper fluid? Anything but the EXACT synthetic trans fluid and these things will hand grenade themselves. Any driveablity problems other than CEL? You cannot download the software yourself, you will have to go to the dealer. Is the trans fluid level correct? To check the engine needs to be running and tranny fluid has to be above 80 celcius to properly check.
uscgc70
I flushed it with mobil 3309. driveability-wise it locks into limp home mode, third gear, and stays like that until i shut it off and restart the car or clear the codes. my wife has been driving it and said it has only acted up once since the beginning of the month. i'll have to recheck the fluid level when i get home next month. thanks for the help.
