RZT5
thanks for everyones input makes me feel much better about how the car is shifting.just a thought though, can you swap in a post VIN split ECU instead one for a 1998 AT? thanksas long as its still from a car with 98 spec engine (cable throttle and distributor ignition) i'm sure it will work, but i dont know if that will fix the issue
bagodoosh
i always thought the RPM during shifting is strictly related to the flywheel.as soon as you take your foot off the gas, the engine cuts the fuel to the injectors.please explain how the ECU controls the RPM during a shift. IAC? magic? <_<
ozzimark
the IAC should be able to flow enough air to make the engine rev up to around 2500-3000rpm, which explains the slow drop, and the increase in rpm between gears when no throttle is applied at rpms lower than this
Keaton85
It's normal, although you can probably pick up a new ECU from the other VIN and it will work but idono about that one. Just dont get an AT ECU or you will put a lot more stress on motor mounts and varies other parts... its a harsh ride if you dont really feather the throttle and clutch with the fuel cuts. and the axles are no different then any other 850 or x70 FWD....well ok the shaft diameter is a little different but it wont make any difference!
