Diy Catchcan I Made

I made a nifty little and pretty much free catch can. WIll post some pics soon. What i did was take an old receiver kind of like this onevit540003003.jpg Do not know exactly what it was from. ANyway. i cut it in half then used a short piece of hose and two hose clamps to put it bakc together. when you cut one up you will see that the bottom half is empty, the top half has a nice little filter built in of some sort.

Here is how it works. Breather hose coming from crankcase connects to top connection which passes through a pipe through middle of filter to empty bottom half catching oil then gases pass back up through the filter and out the other connection on top of dryer. To empty just loosen bottom hose clamp and dump it. It holds probably 2 cups or so.

Can everyone understand what i am trying to describe? WIll post some pics soon. It is really simple and pretty much free to make. Looks like a factory installed part if you didnt know what you were looking at.

Just walk around the junkyard and look at a bunch. Should be able to find one similar.

i still have the stock breather box the catch can is placed in between that and the tube going to intake tube in front of the turbo. Keeps oil from sucking through the turbo. Which is common especially on high mile vehicles. With this simple catch can the fumes are still routed back through the intake to be reburned and keep the tree huggers happy. But filters the oil out. BUt instead of something big and bulky like this type. smallcatchcan02.jpg
