HtownTurboBrick
I know there was a thread pinned or archived somewhere, cuz i read it some years ago, but i can't for the life of me find it. Spent the last 2 days digging thru everything and searching. Maybe my search-fu is just weak i dunno.I'm taking the new car tomorrow to dyno with a european car club. The TXC had a meet and we've dynoed here before, but this place is notorious for getting weak numbers for fwd auto vehicles. I'm just doing it cuz its cheap and its a BBQ/Dyno car guy event, but i'd like to take the opportunity to get a base dyno before i do anything to the car. So how do i achieve the best possible readings with a 98 S70 T5 auto. I think their problem is they start the readings at a shitty speed or powerband cuz they don't let the tranny kick down or starts it in the wrong gear. This is going down on a dynojet dyno since i know theres certain dynos that just don't give the most accurate numbers. Any hints or tips guys? ACES70
If you have winter mode use that and start in third gear. It will depend on the dyno, but you want to have a 1:1 ratio which I think is third for you.
AaronD81
Well you don't want it to kick down, so they're right about that. According to my owner's manual, if you put it in winter mode it'll start in 3rd and you can take it from idle to redline that way, or winter mode and shifter in 3 will start it in 2nd gear with the same effect. Basically it doesn't really matter how you do it unless you just want to show off high numbers. What you should be concerned about is making sure that the next time you go back you do it the exact same way you did the base line.
Che'_Moderator
Put just the left tire on the rollers. It has the most power.

steve s
1. get to 50 MPH2. Put in "3"3. Make sure car is in "econ" mode4. Accelerate while staying above 50 MPH, and get to full throttle, do not engage the "kickdown switch" that little notch when super WOT, but go full throttle5. after attaining greater than 70 MPH, go super WOT (with little notch) and hit the "sport" mode
Zappo
This can be simplified even further.1. Get to 70 mph in 3rd in either ECON or SPORT.2. Punch it!Sport and Econ make no difference in this case since the trans won't be shifting and that is all it effects. If you want to wait 5 minutes to get up to 70, go with winter mode. JHEIII874T5M
Sure you can floor it at 70 if you don't care about your power under 4K Or try it the other way (using W at 50) and actually see your values where it looks useless (peak torque).
