siever76
Got an oil leak coming from in front of the oil pan. Just took it to the shop a couple of weeks and they thought it was coming from around the oil filter. They changed the oil etc... Still got that same oil leak. Going to check it out this week myself is there anything I should look for? Any suggestions would be appreciated

MrWinkey
+1Hey I haven't had a +1 in awhile but I forgot about the tube o-ring...honestly though it's probably at the trap, most common.

siever76
Turns out to be the vent box. Going to try to replace it this week. What is the exact term for this part, a vent box, oil trap, etc..Where is a good place to get this part and what other parts need to be replaced when changing the vent box. Any comments will helpThanks
YV1LS53
Breather Box. I would get OEM ( dealer might be the only place to get them anyway ). You will also have to get the upper & lower box seals. Volvo also has a special tool to remove the left side breather box bolt ( not sure if theres any other way to remove that bolt, if there is someone else will chime in im sure)
MrWinkey
When I do the 80 series I pull the accessories(p/s pump, alternator, and loosen a/c compressor. I feel it's much quicker and easier as the LH bolt for the oil trap is behind the accessory bracket. It's really not as bad as it sounds.
siever76
Do the new oil traps come with the seals and I also plan on replacing the hoses. Is that the only two seals that need replaced. And to Mr.Winkeys reply thanks for the tip

Ihatespeedbumps
? special toolI don't know the part # but volvo mad a special tool for doing the oil tap boxes on 6cyl engines. It's a 10mm (maybe 12mm I don't remember) socket welded on to a rod w/ a 3/8" extension. It works well. I wish I had a picture or part #.
