tjts1
Electric impact is too heavy and not enough torque. Check whatever sears has on sale at any given moment. I picked up this 230lb/ft impact for $12. Nine months and many jobs later, it has more than paid for itself and time and effort. At 4 cfm its well matched to my dinky 3 gallon compressor. I only found one bolt it couldn't undo on a 760 ball joint that eventually had to be cut off anyway. I haven't outgrown it yet but if I ever do get tire of it... well it was $12. brick8
Get the biggest you have the cfm for. You never know. If you ever buy a truck the lugs are ~380-450ft/lb. Or.... wait for it...wait for it.....GEt a Command 7000ft/lb with no need for air or electricity.Where does one buy a Swench? Never heard of it before but it sounds like a good idea. RedTurbo850
Are these any good?I was looking at the air ones and holy crap they are expensive.A gun itself is 100 bucks which I guess isn't bad. But the air tanks are like 200 bucks!! So 300 dollars, yes it's an investment, but I just dropped a ton of money in parts/fluids.
socal850tuner
they are handy, semi quite, and work well up till their torque capacity then they wont even try to turn. I like having one around the shop for lug nuts and other little things. However get a air powered one first because it is more versatile.
pfeener
Think long term. Spend the extra bucks and get a compressor with a 60 gallon tank. It's not all that much more and it will run all the tools you need. I had a 20 gallon tank for years and my air tools worked after a fashion, but when I upgraded to a 60 gallon tank with 130 pounds of pressure, the difference was really dramatic. The electric gun will work for 75% of the things you need it for, but it won't touch the important jobs you really need it for, such as axle nuts. r850glt
I used an Electric Dewalt I got from home depot to change axles & stuts, no Problem. Paid around $150-$175. I upgraged to a Snap On Cordless Impact CDR 3850, And its definatley a workhorse. it all depends on what you are using it for. I do not live in the Cold North east so maybe lack of rust made the impacts job easier.
rp850
Totally unrelated but I seem to get more use out of my breaker bars than my impact wrench. The impact is so huge it never seems to fit anyplace when I'm working.

Air tools are only as good as the air supplyMy Electric Dewalt (346 ft/lbs) is a good wrench, it can, will and has removed the dreaded axle nuts
