Decent amount of crashes? You like NASCAR don't you.

At least they have the ball to run in the rain. Seems they crash NASCAR out of boredom, more laps under the yellow and I might shoot my self. Mash it, lift it, turn left, mash it, lift it, turn left...good God stop the madness!

I don't really like any sport that stops because of rain; NASCAR, baseball, cricket, etc.

In response to an earlier query re 'our' Aussie V8 Supercar engines, neither Ford or Holden use a production engine in this category of racing. Both the Fords & Holdens run 5.0 pushrod V8's with the Fords running what is essentially a Boss engine - A Windsor cast iron racing block with Ford Racing alloy Cleveland style heads. The engines run roller cams & fuel injection with 'control' ECU's to keep honesty in check. Also, both makes run a control tyre to keep competition as even as possible, as parity is the name of the game.

The engines are rev limited to 7500RPM, so mechanical failures are extremely rare. Current power levels are around 620 horses with the cars reaching almost 300km/h down the famous 'Conrod Straight' at the Mount Panorama track in Bathurst, NSW. This is a race you US & European guys must not miss! It runs for 1000km & takes some 7-8 hours to complete with driver changes & pitstops.

To give my great city a plug, don't miss the first V8 Supercar race of the season next month here in Adelaide, the 'Clipsal 500'. It's a four day meet on what is essentially a street circuit lying east of the city, in fact the track does skirt the very edge of the city itself. The main races occur on the Sat & Sun & are broken into 250km each. Look out for the infamous 'Turn 8' for some sensational action! As the Adelaide circuit is streetbound, the cars race with concrete barriers on either side of the track which makes for some interesting sheetmetal 'reformation...'

Yeah it's basically the G8 with more power (we get a 360hp V8 as the top choice).

I forgot to add the specs of our road going versions of the Fords & Holdens here in Oz.

Ford sell a sedan & ute version of our Falcon with a choice of a couple of engines of note; the 5.4 quad cam modular V8 in 260, 290 or 302kw versions. Yep, you can drive a Falcon off the showroom floor here with 400 horses...

The sleeper & the pick for many is the 4.0 turbo'd straight six which comes in the Falcon XR6 & the higher performance Typhoon sedan & Tornado ute. That engine starts at 240kw with many tuners now getting 400kw+ from these beasts - that's over 500hp! They're quite a weapon on the streets.

Holden shares the new 'Commodore' with both Pontiac & Vauxhall as previously posted. The Australian GTS & R8 versions crank out 307kw (over 400 neddies) right out of the factory.

As you can see, we seriously enjoy our motoring in this country :D

Holy smoke. 850 owners in Australia on VS forums!

Yes it does rain in Australia! :)

There's at least two of us Kirbo! Actually, I think a few others are out there too.

I think even WA is getting more rain than we are in SA currently  It's as dry as a nun's convention here...

I'm with ya on that. I played soccer in any weather, no calling that game. That will grow you a set of nuts, shorts, short sleeves and no drawers!
