Is It Possible To Make An O2 Sensor Wiring Longer?

Recommended Posts

yea splicing is easy but the you would have to use wires of the same resistance and material. I was told by the parts manager at the dealership that the 02 sensor might not function properly if it is spliced. if i were you i would just use an extension harness, its a safer bet i think ipd has a picture of them on their website

Your parts manager is wrong. Standard insulated copper wire works just fine. My volvo mechanic has been working on redblock and white block volvos for over 20 years and said he's spliced standard high quality copper cable to extend 02 sensors (both front and back) for years and never had a problem. To hell with paying $30+ for extensions. $.50 extension FTW.

Bet he does it with EGTs and WBs too. Thats asking for trouble even on a non-heat 02
