Preamp Voltage

I am about to buy a flip out DVD player. I am either going to go with the Alpine IVA-D300 or IVA-D900. The IVA-300 has three 2 volt preamp outputs, and the IVA-900 has three 4 volt preamp outputs. How big a difference is it between 2 volt preamps and 4 volt preamps? Will I hear a huge difference in sound?

Also, do any of you guys have experience with either unit?

Thanks

JP

have used and or installed both, and dependingon what the rest of your system is, 2-4 volts can certianly make a difference. you can however, make up the difference with a line driver...but you can get a better noise floor and less noise with a 4 volt preout versus a 2volt...

but personally, and i am sure you dont want to hear it, i am not overly impressed with alpine's flip outs hehe, good stuff definetly a bit over priced hehe..

the iva d900 in my opinion was a pretty dismal headunit, not interms of performance, but interms of features and ease of use...the lack of a touch screen option was just not good for navigating through all the menus...this is the reason why alpine came out with the 901 very quickly I think...

in all the in dash flip outs i have installed or seen, my personally preference is this:

1. best and brightest screen: panasonic

2. best bang for the buck among hte top brands: pioneer

3, most features: pioneer

4. best sound quality out of hte pre out: alpine;s higher line
