Pops Racer
Looks like a corp. from India, Tata Inc. , will be purchasing these 2 brands from Ford. Can Volvo be far behind? Please, Please, BMW, by me!!

94850tx
BMW is a pipe dream and will ruin the brand, why put two competitors under the same roof a-la buick-olds. Stupid move.AB Volvo is the most likely buyer if it were for sale.Nick

D s50r
ford has too much influence in the volvo car line up and they have taken too many of volvos innovations to let vcc go.... they would loose millions in the long run

Everyone says that but I honestly don't see it.

That is as far as it went. The only reason AB Volvo was interested in buying Volvo back was because Renault was interested. They don't want Renault owning the company, so they would buy it before it would ever go to them. No idea why this is, just what I heard.

Not that Ford ownership affects the older car owners so much, but I am very interested in buying a newer V70 model when the time comes. Not a big fan of Ford. The hopeful tone in my BMW query was based on the idea that they would provide quality design and engineering to the brand. GM = Pontiac, chevy, olds, caddy etc. They have been competing with each other for as long as can remember, using the same parts and drive trains. My 1977 Buick LeSabre had a Pontiac 301 in it. They are all whores, so whats the diff? Japs do it too. Isn't Mitsubishi in the Dodge mix, and Mazda with Ford? Can't beat'em, join'em. The whole economics and branding is a borderless concept. Information, advertising etc. reaches everybody. Loyalty to a brand should be based on quality and service not on a name or fad. I don't think folks care so much now as long as they can get the quality and features they need/want at the price point they are looking for. Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo, you may not want one but somebody is buying them.Giants win! Sorry about the Steelers, Mike.
