Somehow it doesn't seem right which is why I'm questioning it. Never heard of that before. And yea should have dropped the passenger, also had full spare/jack and sub and amp. In 2nd gear at 40mph i'm pretty high up in the rpm range (4k or so) and as i short shift at 5500 due to boost fade, it's not worth it to start in 2nd. So i stay in 3rd at 40mph and brake boost the car to 15-20lbs of boost (foot on brake and accelerator at the same time) this allows you to lift off the brake and have 20lbs of boost immediately instead of me waiting 2 seconds to hit full boost, because by that time he's gonna be at least a car or two up on me. Since i've owned an automatic 850, heres what you do.From a 40 to 50 roll. Get up to that speed in D, then move the shifter back to L, that will lock you in 2nd gear, with rpms in the 4k range, foot on the brake and accelerator to allow boost to build. Three beeps and you should launch like a rocket. After that you can shift to 3 or D and let the car do its jobFrom a 70 roll lock it in 3rd by putting the Shift selector in 3 mode, and do the same thing

It sounds like you would be making high boost at low rpm, which everyone seems to say bends rods.
