leurven
So I totalled my car on Monday - insurance got back to me the other day saying it would cost more than the car is worth to fix it. I was driving down a row of cars in a snow covered parking lot and to my surprise suddenly had 97 Mercedes ML 320 appear from my right on what I later discovered was a pathway the parking attendents had left for traffic to drive through. I hit his front left fender and wheel and door. There were no markings of a road or even an intersection and it did not occur to me to stop or even slow down for any traffic coming from my left or right.Oh well... The front of the car suffered severe structural damage, smashing the bumper, one headlight, one foglight, the support shroud, damaging both fenders and the vender structural supports, and the core tube support that runs along each side of the engine. It is fixable damage but I was told at least in Nevada the car would never be road legal again due to the type of structural damage. I am not interested in fixing it as it will cost too much. The car drives perfectly and suffered zero mechanical damage. I drove the car 100 miles to Reno and back and it didn't skip a beat - gotta love Volvos.I love this car but it is time for me to move on. After having spent about $7000 on it this year it is also far to expensive to keep and I was planning on selling it anyway. I will miss it and the attention it gets and the utter uniqueness of it. It truely is a great car! My next car will likely not be a Volvo - time to get into something fun and with a clutch pedal and 5 or 6 speeds I can control.Pictures are below. I will be keeping the car and parting it out. However I do NOT want a single PM or email regarding any part I have not yet listed. I will post in For Sale anything I am selling and eventually post a "anything for sale on the car" thread where you can then request parts. If you have already contacted me you are first in line for any parts you have asked for. Thanks all!Buy it here: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=90207

leurven
The damage is structural - I said the same thing until the body shop pointed out exactly where the structural damage is. The entire front end is push to the drivers side and would need to be pulled straight for everything up front to fit properly. The front portion of the tubular structure is also damaged and would need bending back into the way it was for the front end to fit properly. If you make me a good offer I'll sell the car as is if you think you want to fix it. I was quoted $9600 to fix it and that was assuming minimal core damage which wouldn't be seen until the fenders and front supports were taken off. leurven
154,000 miles.$9600 quote for fixing it. Adjuster from insurance company said that was about right. I saw a whole parts list and all prices seem spot on. I wanted to go with only OEM parts. The real cost is in the structural repair to pull it straight and fix all the bent metal work thereafter.I'm not looking to put more than $5K in to fix it when I can make over $10K selling it. leurven
If someone is interested in the entire car I would look at a number around $7,000 including shipping to your door. I will hold all sales of other items listed if you contact me by the end of Sunday.

It reminds me of my older brother a similar thing happened a couple of years ago and he went away from volvo and got an acura. The thing was in the shop more than it was on the road and it was only a year and a half old, apparently their is an online petition against honda for selling faulty transmissions in various models. I also see alot of those hondas on tow trucks being as I work part time at a towing agency. I dont understand why they get such a high rating, the japanese must be paying someone off, haha. He then went to Audi which the seats he said were stiff as a board, so he sold that and got a bimmer but that car was also in the shop alot. He now owns an s60R and wont go back to any other brand. Just some food for thought
