elfnmagik
I know it's been hashed over the years, but has anybody found a good alternative to the Hamburgs recently? I've been through about 3 in a year. The quality control on the ball joint boots is crap!
Oreo931
I know it's been hashed over the years, but has anybody found a good alternative to the Hamburgs recently? I've been through about 3 in a year. The quality control on the ball joint boots is crap!I dont know if Hamburg is OEM or not, but I advise you to ONLY go with OEM for control arms. www.eeuroparts.com has them for pretty cheap + free shipping. I bought some aftermarket ones for my s70 and they failed within 6 months. No problems with my OEMs though. You also need to make sure you are installing them right. The bushings will fail very fast if you dont install them properly, then need to be torqued down when the control arm is completely horizontal, I forget what the process is called but its in the control arm threads. 7 VII 7
+1 for OEM with ANYTHING suspension... unless you are doing performance upgrades.
elfnmagik
FYI - I remember reading some people liked the ones from TRW, but that they were no longer able to find them. Swedish Engineering has them for $95 each.

Mike_P
hmmmmm.. isnt TRW OEM?I thought Meyle was OEM. In any case, the arms with the words "VOLVO" cast into them work pretty good

Swedish Engineering has them for $95 each.Yeah, TRW is supposed to be good. I have never used them for control arms, but all 4 tie rods I went with TRW they are holding out great so far. I also had to re-replace H-T control arms, boot disintegrated in 1 month FCP replaced for free, then they were shot after only 20k miles or something. Ball joints were crap. You can get Genuine Volvo from eEuroparts for $105 each, free shipping. That's what I did. Tired of messing with the control arm. r850glt
I had Scantech control arms on my Car for 5.5 years, Passenger side just failed after 55,000 miles. Maybe the quality was better years ago ?
