Help With Codes

94 850 wagon, non-turbo, 113K

CEL came on today. I pulled the following codes:

A1 : 114 Program selector open circuit or short circuit to supply (blue)

A3 : 444 No power supply to valves in hydraulic unit

213 Left rear wheel sensor, no signal on moving off

214 Right rear wheel sensor, no signal on moving off

A6 : 241 EGR system flow too low in system (blue)

Blue in parentheses means that the code was in blue type on the bay 13 code list. I do not know if this means anything?

Sounds like I have a rear brake problem?? After reading and clearing the codes, I started the car. The CEL is off, but the ABS light is now on.

Any help with the meaning of these codes would be great. I hope it's just a simple problem that's throwing all these codes.

Also, I have had problems getting the trans out of park upon startup the last few months. When the ABS light came on today after clearing codes (and CEL going out), I tried jiggling the key, but the light did not flicker or go out. I thought this may be related??? But I dunno.

Have you checked the wheel sensors for ABS? Maybe the module is messing up.

I had a problem with ignition switch: hard to get out of park, ABS light on and no headlights. I put in a new switch (electrical part for $75).

I do not have a list of codes handy here.

OK, today when I drove the car, the ABS light went off when I hit 18 mph (when the car does its auto brake check). So now both lights are off. Hmmmm. I guess everything is ok??

The code listed in blue just means that it's a fairly common code and there might be repair instructions for that code in the Repair and Maintenance section.

All the Abs codes, best thing is to clear them and see what returns on a regular basis.

The A1 114 code is a clear it and see also, the W, S, E switch is what sets the code, coke, pepsi, starbucks etc. will mess up the switch, if you consume all your liquids and don't give any to the Volvo, it could just be from being inbetween positions.

The A6 code can be repaired via

Thanks rich...

Should I go ahead and fix the egr, or should I wait to see if the cel comes on again?

Also, it seems odd that all of these codes (ie egr and seemingly unrelated abs) were thrown at once. Will ANY code cause the cel to come on? Or is it possible that the egr code has always been there (and maybe is again) even though the cel was never on (and isn't now)? In other words, will a "minor" code like egr not cause the cel to come on, but a "major" code like abs cause it to come on?
