Hi

I want to replace the instument panel bulbs on my uncle's 2003 S80. How do I take out the instrument panel? Is it like the 850 where I have to remove the dash or is there a shortcut?

And once I remove it how do I remove the front plastic window to clean behind it? There is some dust trapped behind the plastic which makes the trip computer very hard to read in daylight.

Thanks in advance

Berk

Boy he's asking a lot for a guest?

I am actually a member. I did not remember the password when I asked the question therefore logged on a a guest.

Anybody with an answer to the question? I guess many S80's are still too new to have blown instrument panel lights. This one from 2003 though has 130,000 miles on.

Make sure the ignition is off & remove the key. Wait one minute.

Then remove the instrument panel surround by removing the two screws in the upper portion of it. and then carefully pull out the surround. Then remove the four screws you'll see that retain the driver information module

Thank you very much for the info.

In other cars where I did this procedure (Volvo 850, Saab 9000) there were wire looms at the back of the instrument cluster you would have to reach in and unplug before you could remove the cluster. Of course you would do this from the top when you remove the dash first. How am I going to reach in and remove all these from the front before moving the cluster on the S80?

Thanks

Berk

Sorry Berk ;)

I personally have not done this yet?

Berk,

I haven't done it yet either, and I haven't found anything in Vadis that describes the process beyond what I posted earlier. It may be the sort of thing you could ascertain as you get into it, e.g., perhaps with the surround removed and the module unscrewed there will be enough play in the harnesses to simply put your hands around the module to unplug them.... If not, you can always just screw things back together....
