Johann
Well.. at least there is some momentum back in the SD7 project.. Ordered a lot of parts last Friday, most of them came in this morning. Downside is that it's only 10 minutes worth of work on the engine.. First of all there's a dipstick, C30 2.0 engine mount, studs and nuts, C30 2.0 water pump plus pulley, thermostat housing and idler pulley (Is that the correct word?) C30 2.0 exhaust gasket, EGR channel is blocked on the exhaust side also, round alloy plug on the left. And using the gasket as a template I made an EGR blocking plate,
Mesoam
yes idler pulley (or idler wheel) is correct, did you ever get heat in the new shop?
Johann
did you ever get heat in the new shop? The shed you mean? It's not heated, only has single layer metal plate as walls.
Johann
Some more parts came in today. Coolant divider plus temperature sender housing at the rear of the engine, On top the coil can be mounted. Bypass hose bewteen thermostat housing and the housing at the rear, Sourced a fuel rail from a wreckyard, Plus two hinges for lifting the engine, I couldn't find part numbers for the hinges in VADIS, in fact they weren't even displayed in the pictures. At the dealership it turned out they were displayed in VIDA but not orderable.. Wreckyard had a damaged engine with the hinges still on. Measured the engine and the 2.3 engine mount sits almost an inch higher compared to a 2.0 engine. Need to raise the motormount on the chassis. Johann
Added some more parts, Coil, Driveshaft support, Studs and nuts for the exhaust manifold Alternator and startermotor, Also ordered a custom single mass flywheel as a replacement for the normally used dual mass flywheel. No choice on clutch yet but I think it will be a Sachs sport version.
Johann
Sourced a nice aftermarket single mass flywheel with the same mounting sizes as the original dual mass flywheel. Decided to install a stock 2.0 clutch kit for the time being. See how it goes. Reason for doing so is because I couldn't find proper info about which clutch would fit. Depending on how the car performs I will probably install an LSD anyway sometime next year in which case the box needs to come out again. Also mounted the gearbox. Engine is basically ready for install but before doing so I need to strip the SD-C since it is still on the auto lift. Removed the engine management plus loom and Zeitronix Wideband,Front K-Sport brakes, iPD sways, exhaust and the engine with the gearbox. Had to remove the brakes and sways because they are sold. Already sold the machined R manifold, GT30 turbo with it's external wastegated downpipe a while ago.
lookforjoe
Looks like you have your work cut out for you! That motor is chain drive? I looked back but couldn't find your overall plans for this engine/output levels?
Johann
That motor is chain drive? Yes. I looked back but couldn't find your overall plans for this engine/output levels? I hope to start with something near 170 crank HP. Depending on how the car performs maybe try to take it over 200.
T5shortblock
What is going on with SD-C are you selling the shell?
Johann
What is going on with SD-C are you selling the shell? Selling is said to much but yes. At the time I received the car for free. Now I will offer the body without engine at the cost of the paperwork transfer and suspending the road tax which in total wouldn't cost more than 100 Euro's. Johann
Removed the Sparco seat, steering wheel, intercooler and oil cooler, engine mounts and wheels. Added stock brakes and rims and pushed it out the door.. This is the end for project SD-C. Will start removing the 1.6 engine from the C30 tomorrow.
